The Den

The Den at our #modernlakeside project is a cozy, multi-functional room that can serve as a game room, office nook, or act as a retreat when quiet time is needed. This space contains lots of texture and organic materials for enhanced comfortability.

The walls are painted a crisp neutral tone in contrast to the wooden beams adorning the ceiling. A large area rug spreads across the wood floors in which adds a layer of texture underfoot.

We took a modern spin on the wooden beams and loved the outcome! They warm up the room while staying true to the transitional style of the space.

There is plenty of seating inside the Den. Accompanying the sofa and ottoman are two lounge chairs with arms wrapped in natural rattan peel. Paired with a small side table, it’s the perfect spot for morning conversations over coffee!

 In the corner of the Den is a small office nook with an upholstered bench where the kids can do their homework or casual internet browsing (i.e. online shopping, perhaps??). A spacious storage closet stands opposite the office nook, adding even more functionality to the room.

Upon walking in, you’re immediately invited to curl up and watch a movie on the sofa, styled with oversized flanged toss pillows. If it’s family game night, use the ottoman to engage in board game or activity on the linen upholstered ottoman. The Den’s versatile seating continues with comfy floor pillows for when you want to lounge with Fido.
